|
|
Hi Everyone
At last am able to give you an update on the products I have been using since October 2009 and really pleased with the results.
Green People: Aloe and Lavender Shampoo and Conditioner - No more itchy scalp- at works! Also using their natural Pure Bliss cleanser and Wild Rose Body Lotion-excellent for my sensitive skin!
Weleda- Wild Rose Body Wash- Now on my second tube bought at my local health food shop. It really has helped my dry skin.
Sensitive Skincare- Gardenia and Coconut oil -works well on my legs and feet as long as I use at everyday- Wall be buying more
Borolind Make up -Natural Concealer, Almond foundation, "Brilliant red" lipstick and lip pencil and brush. I feel the difference on my face-a natural look but effective-Lip pencil is soft ( a good thing) but once applied , is on the thick side looks a little like a lip tattoo , difficult to blend in with your lipstick- shall drop company a note on this- Its a tough one choosing a lipstick colour from a computer screen- so if anyone has any other recommendations on lipsticks and gloss would be grateful-now looking for a paler colour with pinky tones...for spring/summer.?
Bought my first natural, soft and feathery mascara by Logona ,a great colour for Blonds i.e. Anthracite-Equally, easy to remove with Green People Cleanser.
Can anyone recommend another mascara brand for more definition in brown/blue or purple??
Organic Bloom rose and geranium hand cream works so well at helping to keep my hands protected and soft-
Faith in Nature- Facial Wipes- they are gentle but a little drying on my skin but that equally could be down to the water when I was in Kent! Would use again when travelling, as light and easy to pack.
Inika- Blusher- Sweeps on like a dream- also use the Leroy Brown Lipstick -Colour good for winter and it stays on.
Soap Nuts- Yes I am not repeating myself but I/we started to use before I left Turkey to good results and with the aromatherapy oil to replace those horrible fabric conditioners- our clothes smell so much fresher when I can hang out in the brilliant sunshine we have had here.
Thrilled to be able to order from Daniel Field the Anti Frizz spray and Smooth and Shine Hair serum-Hair feels good and style remains in place now that I am only washing my hair once a week! In the late eighties and early nineties used to have my hair cut and coloured at his Salon in Albemarle Street, W1.
Has anybody tried his Vegetable Hair Colours and what are your thoughts to use at home?? Have never used colour for home use...but could bring to my local hairdresser to apply for me.
In-Light Facial Products i.e. line corrector, face oil and lip balm I can highly recommend - can really see the difference 4 months on.
Tried Riverford Organic before Christmas and was so impressed with the quality of their fresh foodstuffs, organic wine , Rye Bread etc....-Shall be ordering again when back in the UK . What a great find , thank you Janey. Liked their reusable and recyclable packaging and their friendly professional service.
That's it for now,
Miriam x
P. S. How do you feel about natural products incl of clothes, jeweler etc.. travelling from outside your country of origin...? I am torn in terms of emissions, being green and not being always able to source locally?? _________________ I have been living in SW Turkey for the last 7 years with my husband CJ and we feel so lucky to have found this little bit of paradise- Have just finished my first book of Short Stories, Tales from Turkey. |

Hi Miriam,
on the mascara note, I use the Sante mascara in brown. I love it. I have sensitive eyes and it doesn't irritate them. For more definition you need to apply a layer, let dry and then apply another layer and if you want more definition (i.e for a big night out) another layer, but I love the fact that I get to control it. I also like their lippies but, as you say, it can be difficult to see what colour you're getting from the Internet. The purenuffstuff natural lip gloss has, pink minerals added to it and I love it for the everyday natural look. Hthxxx _________________ My blog: 11 Things... |

Hi Indiebird,
Brilliant, thank you so much- Shall check out and order.
What do you use in the Sun?? Up until last year was still using Decleor for my face and body. Regardless of the time of year I need to use 30-50SPF Now I want a natural product as a hat does not completely protect me or complete cover up is not possible in over 35 degrees from June until late Sept. Have a good day, Miriam x _________________ I have been living in SW Turkey for the last 7 years with my husband CJ and we feel so lucky to have found this little bit of paradise- Have just finished my first book of Short Stories, Tales from Turkey. |

Hmmmm sun protection can be a hard one. I am a big fan of the Dr Haushka suncreams and green people ones too but because they are non chemical and rely on minerals they can seem a bit thick sometimes. Wonder if anyone else will come up with some recommendations.... _________________ My blog: 11 Things... |

Hi Alexandra and Indiebird,
RE Suncare, Ordered Lavera SPF 15 ( that was the highest Factor I could get from them for body, crazy) Have been using for over 5 weeks now, it does not sink in and leaves a white stain on my skin and feel it is drying...If that is what SPF15 does hate to think what 30 plus might do which is what I have used in the past-Have ssent them an e mail on same matter but no response to date-If it is working great....shall contact them again.
Going to check out Green People again and order.
Using Trevarno on my face and like it a lot but would prefer a higher factor than SPF15
Re? Mascara Indiebird, am now in possession of Sante brown mascara and it works and loving it so a big thank you on that front-Next up I need a brilliant lip pencil?? any suggestions? Have a great day Miriam x _________________ I have been living in SW Turkey for the last 7 years with my husband CJ and we feel so lucky to have found this little bit of paradise- Have just finished my first book of Short Stories, Tales from Turkey. |

I have used Dr Hauschka in the past and loved it. Unfortunately since new regulations came in they no longer do it (not sure why that is?) I have used Lavera in the past - the spray bottle SPF 15 was quite good and applied easily but the SPF 20 anti-age sun milk for the face is a bit sticky and makes you look quite white.
I also tried the Green People suncream lotion SPF 15 2 years ago but I found it very oily, greasy and quite hard to apply.
I have been looking for a suncream that is at least SPF 15 but that doesn't leave you feeling dry, sticky and very white and I also want it to filter both UVA and UVB rays as I have learnt that A is for ageing and B is for burn!
I have just ordered some samples from the Caribbean Blue website [http://www.gocaribbeanblue.com/] but you have to be careful to read the small print and pick the sport or baby suncreams to avoid the new nano-technology which makes the suncreams less white. This sounds good but there is lots of debate out there about whether such small particles can enter the blood stream? I'd rather not take any chances if even the experts aren't sure.
I will have to report back as to what they are like.
If anyone else has tried any good suncreams do let me know. |

Hi there,
Sorry for being a bit late to this discussion.
If you find the Faith In Nature wipes a bit drying, you might like to try the Rawganic ones? I use these and leave my face feeling lovely and soft.
On the sun cream front....a new EU directive came in last year regarding the labelling of sun creams....what used to be a Lavera SPF40 is now a SPF20. Not sure of the complete in's & out's of it, but suffice to say Lavera's products are the same as they were 2 years ago, but they cannot label them with such high factors. There is also a theory that you don't in fact get much more protection from an SPF50 compared to a SPF25.....lavera have produced a booklet which might shed some light on it a bit for you: http://www.lavera.co.uk/pdf/Sun_booklet_April_09.pdf
I know natural sun creams tend to leave your skin a bit on the white side, but I think they work incredibly well. Last Sunday we went to our local beach for the afternoon, we used the Lavera Sun Spray SPF20 and not a pink patch in sight (except for the bits we missed )
Also I think I met your husband a couple of weeks ago? Was great to meet him. He came into the shop? Apologies if I have the wrong person _________________ Nicola
